Dollaway vs. Massenzio In the Works for UFC 92
From MMAJunkie.com:
"The Ultimate Fighter 7" runner-up C.B. Dollaway (7-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) will likely face Mike Massenzio (11-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) at UFC 92, an event that takes place Dec. 27 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
A source close to Dollaway today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that the bout with Massenzio has been offered and will likely be signed this week.
I think this is an interesting fight, but a questionable choice for Dollaway. Massenzio submitted Drew McFedries pretty easily (and I know that McFedries took the fight on short notice), and C.B. is not the best at defending submissions, as we've all seen.
I know this isn't a title shot or anything, but Dollaway seems to have more to lose than Massenzio. Massenzio is the new guy, and if he lost to C.B., I think people would say (at least the casual fans) that Massenzio fell prey to the guy who was runner-up on TUF 7. However, in spite of CB's submission win over Jesse Taylor, after losing to Amir twice via submission, I think Massenzio would definitely be going in looking for a submission attempt. A win over Dollaway could give Massenzio some much deserved press.
Regardless, it will be a good test to see if Dollaway has been working on his submission defense and it will be interesting to see if Massenzio can defend the takedown against Dollaway, a solid wrestler.
