Forrest pulling for Liddell to win
With a victory tonight it is widely assumed that Chuck Liddell would be next in line for a crack at Forrest Griffin's newly won LHW title. There are many factors which make a Griffin-Liddell fight attractive: for one thing, the two of them are probably the company's most marketable stars and don't forget the fact that Chuck Liddell was a coach on season 1 of The Ultimate Fighter, the season which Griffin won in dramatic fashion.
After a two-year reign as champ, Liddell lost the title in 2007 to Quinton Jackson, who was defeated by Griffin earlier this year. The UFC loves to stack its year-end pay-per-view events, and UFC President Dana White has already discussed the Liddell-Griffin title fight as a possibility for the Dec. 29 card if Liddell takes care of business tonight.
Obviously Liddell needs to focus on his task at hand tonight, which is first defeating undefeated Rashad Evans, who was the winner of season 2 of TUF. There is no discounting how huge a fight between Liddell & Griffin would be. The grizzled former champ against the hungry dedicated current champ. Griffin has his own thoughts about a potential blockbuster between him and Liddell.
"I don't want to say I want Chuck Liddell to win, but it would probably be better for me if he did," said Griffin, who knows a fight with the former champ could be extremely lucrative for the UFC and him. "OK, I want Chuck Liddell to win. There, I said it."
Griffin clearly understands the ramifications of such a fight -- the ppv buys, the live gate, the merchandise sold would eclipse any fight he has been in and most likely any other fight he could be in. On top of that, fighters like Griffin constantly want to face the best and Liddell, even at 38, is one of the best. I know that is a fight I would love to see.

TUF winner 1 vs. TUF winner
TUF winner 1 vs. TUF winner 2 what a marketing tool, Dana has some strong negotiating points when he goes in for a new contract with Spike. All you have to look at is the success of these two fighters coupled with Matt Serra's title win, this show has served it's purpose this far.
