Tito Ortiz comments on Rampage-Ibarra situation

tito.jpg

From FiveOuncesofPain.com:

“Let me explain this to you because it really pisses me off that Ibarra has done what he has done, he is a thief,” said Ortiz. “I have been running training camps for seven years up in Big Bear California and the most that my camp has cost a fighter to attend is $35,000. Ibarra was charging Jackson $65,000 to go to Big Bear. I don’t understand that! He was being very disrespectful and taking advantage of Rampage. Including travel, training partners, food and lodging, the most ever was $35,000, maybe if you flew in more trainers… 40K. Where did that extra money go that Ibarra was charging? Rampage is really pissed and he feels betrayed that he was taken advantage of and I couldn’t agree more with him. I don’t care if Juanito reads this or hears about it anywhere, he already knows that he is blackballed. I don’t care who you are; fighters work very hard for the money they earn and I feel slighted for even knowing Juanito.”

It isn't hard to tell that Ibarra will have problems finding fighters to trust him ever again. Even if what is being said isn't 100% true people will always be skeptical considering the amount of praise Rampage had been throwing at Ibarra only to have it turn sour so quickly. Ortiz, if anything, has always been a huge supporter of other fighters. He has tried to achieve higher pay for not only himself but for all fighters and if he is backing up Rampage on this, his words will hold a lot of meaning for many other fighters.

If Ibarra is doing this (and

If Ibarra is doing this (and why would both Tito and Rampage lie), this just sucks. I get tired of Ortiz' antics sometimes but MMA needs him. He's got enough mainstream clout to speak his mind and he does so for the benefit of both himself and other fighters. I respect that in him. It would be much easier to keep quiet and make his money (which is what a lot of sports stars do.)

Kudos Tito!

I feel bad for Rampage he

I feel bad for Rampage he put a lot of trust in Ibarra both professionally and personally. To take advantage of that trust is just wrong and he deserves it if he never works again. Look at what Rampage brought him, he got him a ton of exposure by being the trainer of the UFC lhw champ, on top of all the exposure he got on The Ultimate Fighter. What a moron to blow an opportunity like that over a few thousand dollars.
