CBS In Talks With UFC?

cbs.jpg

From NYPost.com:

"EliteXC: Primetime" debuted on CBS last May. It was greeted with some controversy since the no-holds-barred fighting has been available only on pay-per-view and cable TV.

The original plan was to have a primetime fight every other month.

Despite a poor showing, CBS apparently does not want to give up on the idea of turning the sometime savage mixed martial arts into primetime fare.

Rumors have also resurfaced that CBS is once again in talks with UFC - the first and better-known of the competing fight leagues - to take over the timeslot.

Apparently CBS wanted to run a show every other month but were concerned when the ratings from the second show came in. There was a dramatic drop-off from the first show even though many critics felt that the fights were of a much higher quality. I would certainly take this with a grain of salt as we have been hearing the UFC-network TV rumors for a long time now. Also, keep in mind that CBS and ProElite are in business together and I can't see CBS doing business with its partner's rival.

Well, quite frankly I could

Well, quite frankly I could since the CBS has a deal with Elite that it can drop at any time. And obviously, if they were looking at the UFC (which they should be) and were able to come up with something, they would drop whatever remained of the Elite organization right there after.

I think the UFC should look

I think the UFC should look at CBS as their number one target for prime time because not only will they get their deal, they'll kill their main competitor in the process. Two birds with one stone.

If they had a deal with CBS,

If they had a deal with CBS, I would imagine that ESPN would further pretend that the UFC is a fringe sport only worth mentioning in online-only web casts. I'm pullin for something to happen with ABC/ESPN....

Rather than give in to the

Rather than give in to the terrible monopoly that is ESPN with their garbage coverage of everything, I'd like to see the UFC not be corrupted by their terribleness.

But as usual we could always come back over and over again. I just got banned for using the famous line from The Incredible Hulk-You wouldn't like me when I am angry. They banned me for that and some other ridiculous garbage so I came back as igetbandalot.
