FightTicker.com MMA Rankings
FightTicker.com is back with its second set of MMA rankings. The rankings panel consisted of eleven members of the site, each of whom submitted their top ten MMA fighters for the featherweight through heavyweight divisions.
First-place votes received 10 points while tenth-place votes received 1 point. Note that two panelists abstained from the featherweight rankings.

Also,there were at least three people who said they would participate but didn't so I think you are very close to the 15 you are looking for. I'll be using these rankings in articles from now on (ie. "Anderson Silva, FightTicker.com's #1 ranked middleweight blah blah blah")

BJ Penn is by far the best
BJ Penn is by far the best LW (untill someone takes him out) but he is 2-2 in the WW division should he be ranked there? To me that is like ranking Fedor in the LHW division, sure he could drop down there and prob beat anyone there, but untill he does should he be in the ranking?

Good point not to mention those two wins came in what? 2004? that was a while ago! He did have a win at 185 maybe he should be ranked there too lol

Well to be honest that is not a fair comparison as Fedor has never competed in the LHW division. BJ has fought as a WW in the past and has plans on fighting there in the future. Lest we not forget this is an exercise based on people's opinions, there really is no right or wrong.

Brat you made a valid point I don't see BJ Penn as I do Dan Henderson someone who will bounce back and forth every other fight or so. He may begin to do that but until he does I consider him a LW fighter but that's what made these rankings so much fun it gave people who normally wouldn't have a place for their voice to be heard to be heard loud and clear.

OK here is another question
OK here is another question about our rankings. I have been cutting on Bisqueen a lot and everyone here knows that I dislike his remarks more than his style of fighting. But I have a serious question for everyone in our panal. Since Bisping is ranked above Le does that mean that most of you think he could beat him?

Ranking go on the activity
Ranking go on the activity of a fighter, the competition he faces not how he would fare in a match-up that would never happen. Personal feelings aside rank a guy on his abilities not whether or not he's a wrestler or you don't like his antics. I hate Rashad Evans but you can bet I will rank him higher after his win over Liddell because he deserves it. If I ranked him based upon my feeling for him he'd never get a vote.

As far as quality wins go
As far as quality wins go Bisping really isn't far ahead of Le and in this case I am just talking about ability my question is.
Who on this site thinks Bisbing could beat Le?
My vote is there is 1 guy in the UFC that could for sure and a few more thats a tose up, Bisping is not one of them.

I love watching Le he is an awesome fighter and if they fought today he would probably beat Bisping but the rankings aren't hypothetical in any way. You can't say well if they fought fighter A would beat fighter B so I will rank A higher. You have to go on facts and right now Bisping is fighting and Le is not. Bisping is in a organization with tougher competition.

I dont think he is quite top 5... I am impressed he beat Randy, and actually more impressed with his ridiculously long gorilla arm reach that KO'd Randy with what did not seem to be THAT powerfully thrown shot. I can't imagine what would happen to someones head if he wound up ala Stevensen and landed it...
As I look over the top 8 or so HWs and ask myself how I think Brock would do... I would say...
I think Nog, Fedor, Barnett and Arlovski all are better than Brock and would/could beat him. I give the edge to Mir in a rankings only because he beat him earlier this year. It's VERY generous to put Mir in the top 5 as his ONLY notable win since his comeback is against Brock (his others are Hardonk and Christenson... who?), beyond that he has two horrible losses including one to Vera who is not even a HW anymore and went on to lose his next two HW fights - and apparently thats all it takes to fight for the UFC HW title. So that's the top 5...
Beyond that:
Sylvia - his take down defense is underrated and he actually has as good of reach as Brock... I think Sylvia is a better fighter than Brock right now and would win that match.
Aleks - This would be a fight I would love to see but it will obviously never happen (not in the UFC anyway) - either way, Aleks has yet to beat a legit top 10 HW.
Werdum - had just beaten Vera, and Gonzaga and prior to getting decapitated, I thought he was the best in the UFC, however I still think he is better than Brock and certainly has more meaningful wins.
After that performance, almost a year and a half off, I think I would drop Randy out of the top 10 rankings... I am not sure he beats anyone in the top 10 currently including Sylvia or Gonzaga.
Brock's only win against a top 10 fighter is Randy... but a 45 year old Randy who had not fought in almost a year and a half after all of the stress of a legal battle... I believe that the Randy of 2 years ago is better than the Randy today.
So ahead of Brock...

Then somewhere down around 7 Werdum, Brock, Gonzaga and perhaps Dos Santos?
If that's the case... then the UFC has thier current HW Champ as the current 7th ranked in the world? And the interim champ at 2nd?
Actually lots of movement in the rankings since October in all of the weight classes!
