Report: Dana White confirms plans for UFC 91, Penn-GSP & more
Yahoo.com's Kevin Iole talked to Dana White recently and dug up quite a bit of newsworthy information from the UFC President.
According to Iole's report, White confirmed that UFC 91 will take place in Portland, Oregon on November 15 and will include a lightweight bout between Kenny Florian and Joe Stevenson.
White also confirmed that UFC 92 will take place on December 27 in Las Vegas, two weeks after the TUF 8 Finale. However, he appeared to shoot down light heavyweight Wanderlei Silva fighting on the year-end card and he says the fight between UFC lightweight champ BJ Penn and UFC welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre will not take place on that card either.
Instead, Penn and St. Pierre will face each other on January 31, 2009 (Super Bowl weekend) in Las Vegas. That fight will be for the welterweight title, according to the report.

Although I am excited at the prospect of watching GSP-BJ go at it again, I feel bad for Florian. He has done everything the UFC has asked of him and now he has to wait and fight Stevenson? What happens if he loses to Stevenson a guy who was dismantled by BJ in January? Does that make Daddy the number 1 contender again?

If he loses to Joe then I guess he would have gotten a beat down from Penn wouldnt he. If Joe wins then he does move up the ladder again. I don't know about #1 but would bring him closer wouldnt it. Florian just needs to win and then we can see Penn fighting at 155 defending that belt. Penn is going to be very busy man if he wins both belts. Didnt he say he wanted 1-2 fights a year? or was it the other way around and wanted more fights a year? If he wins both belts then he would be fighting 5-6 times a year. And he can do it because he does not take alot of damage in his fights.

Cincy we all know that MMA
Cincy we all know that MMA mathematics never ring true. Every time we try and use the who beat who scenario to predict a fight those theories get thrown out the window. My point is simple if BJ wants to fight for the WW belt he should vacate the LW title.

oh, sorry king, I wasnt
oh, sorry king, I wasnt trying to use MMA math but just trying to answer some of your questions you had. Didnt say any where that BJ should vacate LW so I guess I didnt read between the lines on your simple point....lol
but to your new point,
, no I dont think BJ should vacate. He should be given the ability to do it and he has the ability to do it. If problems arise later then they can look at it, but I think he can do it for a while anyway.

I commend BJ for trying to
I commend BJ for trying to jump back and forth I just don't think it's right that the other fighters at 155 should have to wait for a title shot. I would never deny a man what he perceives to be his destiny and I think what he is attempting to do is great I just don't like it being at another fighters expense.

Florian should have to fight
Florian should have to fight Sherk not Stevenson if you ask me, based on his earlier loss. Let BJ fight GSP because the fans want to see it. If he wins that belt then he'll have to defend both some how. But after he crushes St. Pierre he should fight Hughes before he retires.

BJ Already fought Matt
BJ Already fought Matt Hughes twice. BJ got the first one and then Matt annihilated him the second one. But then again, GSP beat him as well. I think GSP will walk right through BJ this time. Matt only wants one more fight before retirement, and that's the grudge match with Matt Serra.
Wardog: I would love to see Sherk vs Florian. I don't know who would win that one.
