SIGNAL HILL, California (July 7, 2008) – “Affliction Banned,” the greatest MMA show of all-time, will feature an all-star broadcast team for its July 19th pay-per-view event, featuring the WAMMA heavyweight championship fight between the most lethal MMA heavyweight of all-time, Russian M1 superstar legend Fedor “The Last Emperor” Emelianenko (27-1), and former UFC heavyweight champion Tim “The Maine-iac” Sylvia (24-4), live from Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Veteran television sports reporter and announcer, Jay Glazer, will handle blow-by-blow action while MMA fighter Frank Trigg serves as color analyst. Former MMA referee “Big” John McCarthy joins Glazer and Trigg as a ringside commentator and to conduct interviews. Legendary Michael Buffer of “Let’s Get Ready To Rumble” fame will be the ring announcer.

Glazer is a senior writer for FoxSports.com, sideline reporter for NFL® on Fox® since 2004, and was studio host with Trigg on FSN’s PRIDE® Fighting Championship show.

Trigg is a veteran fighter of several MMA organizations, including UFC® and PRIDE®, as well as color commentator and co-host of MMAWeekly and TAGG radio shows.

McCarthy, who has a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, refereed 535 fights during his 14 years as an MMA referee. He started refereeing in the UFC’s® second show in 1994, retired this past December, and is recognized as an MMA ambassador all over the world.

Buffer, arguably the most recognizable ring announcer in the world, has announced many of boxing and wrestling’s greatest events for the past quarter-century.

I find it interesting that

I find it interesting that Glazer will be involved, cuz I'm pretty sure I saw him next to Liddell in Vegas this past weekend.

Affliction's Buffer rules UFC's Buffer tho

why are people saying this

why are people saying this is the greatest card of all time. you have serious mismatches in every fight...and then you have one decent main event that's not even THAT great of a fight.

I think this is one of the

I think this is one of the best cards in a long, long time. I can't remember a UFC card with as many champs on one card.

Sylvia v. Fedor will answer a lot of questions. Two top 5 HWs in the world. Pride champ (who has 2 wins over the current UFC Champ) and Sambo world champ many times over against a guy who has fought in more UFC HW Title fights than anyone else. This fight really could go either way and I think is a great match up for both because I dont think Fedor's style will allow Tim to sit back and jab his way to dec, I think someoen will be finished in this fight.

AA v Rothwell... former UFC Champ and top 5 HW in the world against the a guy who has not lost in over 3 years and has won his last 13 fights and was the IFL champ and many consider a top 10 HW. I think Rothwell has a great shot at pulling out an upset in this fight.

Barnett vs Rizzo... a former UFC Champ and top 5 HW (and probably my favorite active fighter), and has beaten the current UFC HW Champ against one of the best kickboxers in MMA and a guy who previously KO'd him. This should go the way of Barnett, but Barnett has a history of struggling against excellent kickboxers *cough* Cro-Cop *cough* - another fight that could end in upset.

Lindland vs Negao and Sobral vs Whitehead are not eactly my ideal matchups, but considering the upcoming UFC 87 4 and 5 fight on the main card features Manny Gamburian v Rob Emerson and McDonald v. Maia or that UFC: Silva v. Irvin has Vera v. Reese Andy (who?) and Anthony Johnson v. Kevin Burns, I will take Babalu and the Law against a couple of less accomplished MMA fighters (I would rather they be fighting each other).

Go deeper on the prelim card and you have fights like Aleks (arguably top 10 HW) v. Buenatello (Dana thought he was worthy of a UFC HW title shot 4-1 UFC) and Vitor (former UFC LHW Champ) v. Terry Martin when in the UFC's next two upcoming events the best prelim fights I see are Kongo against a guy I have never heard of and Rory Markham a pretty decent IFL fighter against a guy I have never heard of.

Thats why some are saying it is the best card... because really it is one of the best cards top to bottom. I think it's going to be a great night of fights and will only be the second PPV I purchased all year.
