Tough call. Dana has done a good job but there are just some incidents like the Couture debacle and now the Fitch incident. Tito vs Dana is whole different animal and he was right in letting Tito walk. He just needs to keep his personal feelings out of the business dealings and he will be fine. If he cant do it then hand it over to Lorenzo.

I agreee 100% with the Canadian. I understand Dana is a passionate man and truly does love this sport but he has to know when his personal feelings are effecting the business side in a negative way. Sooner or later someone will develop viable competition or the fighters will form a union and that will effectively nip his child like antics in the bud.

depends on whose side i want
depends on whose side i want to take in most matters
if i'm a fighter and i want someone i think i can get more "respect" (money) out of, i want to deal with lorenzo
if i'm more interested in the success of the company, i'm going with dana
(i'm going with the company on this one)

Commonly in business there are two kinds of managers....one takes a floundering company and brings it to health and prosperity...the other takes a prosperous company and maintains that prosperity adding steady growth. Almost never are these two the same guy. The key for most companies is to decide when the first should be replaced by the second.

Interesting thought Bosco. I think that Dana may think he has the company's best interests in mind but as the sport grows and as the UFC gets bigger, I believe there are very glaring limits to the way he does business. He's in the spotlight now and he can't get away with fear tactics and intimidation.
He strikes me as being your typical neighborhood bully. If you stand up to him, he throws a hissy fit. That's no way to run a business.

Agreed. And each type is quite valuable in its own right. I see Dana White as the first kind and Fertitta (or maybe someone else) as the second kind. It's no knock on Dana but if he's willing to get past his own ego, the UFC will be better served.
I think you let Dana have
I think you let Dana have the spotlight that he craves and let Fertitta run behind the scenes (you know contracts and such). I mean if people want to negotiate with Dana fine, I mean it works for Liddell and others, but he gets too personal when its just business. Plus I am suspect of Dana and his wanting to be in the limelight way too much. Yes he's done great things for the UFC, but his "I built this (expletive) business (expletive)" is getting old. And quite frankly I am getting sick of seeing him on Mens Fitness and other mags sporting some shirt like he's a badass fighter or something. It would be like when Tyson was big and Don King on Muscle and Fitness with the title "How to Get a 6 Pack in 30 Days!" Dana you are a business man not a fighter.

Being that the UFC is starting to get a lot more exposure on ESPN and other media I think there needs to be someone over it that can talk like they aren't a construction worker (like me) lmao
