YAMMA (Spoilers)

YAMMA (Spoilers)

So the sloped edges on the cage certainly seemed to make a difference... see for yourself (BTW nice knee bar!)

Here is Butterbean/Pat Smith. My god Butterbean has gotten HUGE.... and not in a good way. Pat Smith looked surprisingly technical... in this case it looked like the sloped ring gave the edge to the guy on top to me.

416 pounds? wtf is that?!!!

I havnt found the Ricco Rodriguez fight yet... here is an interview though of the new HW champ of Yamma.

Interesting to hear him talk about the ring... it definately played a role in the fight.

Too bad Ricco didnt win this, but it sounds like he was out of shape... over 260? Ugh!

I agree... Butterbean had no range... because he was so huge. I dont remember him being anywhere that big back in the toughman days. Its a shame... he is such a raw talent...

by raw you mean a hairless sideshow whale. honestly, other than getting a paycheck at the end of the night, why is he fighting? he knows he's not going to win. he can't kick, he can't get into guard, he has no ground game, he only throws that bomb right hand, but all you have to do is "lean back" )(like that one rappers song) and you will win.

HAHA! Well I am not sure Butterbean has too many other 'career' options at this point. Seriously though, I expected Butterbean to do a little better. Same with Kerr... the dude had ZERO muscle definition at all... I remember him being huge back in the day. Oleg's knee bar was pretty nice though. He has/had some good submissions.

Here is the article about all of the fights... if anyone even cares. I'm curious about Travis Wiuff though... I hand it to any heavyweight who can win three fights in one night. Especially a 'smaller' guy like him facing some semi-legit competition or at least, experienced competition like Ricco.

and when travis wuiff is your champion at the end of the night....c'mon. who paid to see this BS? idiots don't know they can get this crap for free. i will gladly pay for UFC 83 because i know what i'm getting.

That shit was so awful, Travis Wuiff is your HW champion, what a joke. Those announcers were so lame. I feel stupid after having watched that.

I'm not arguing that he is a 'legit' hw... but he deserves a little credit. He is a 205lb-er fighting HWs and was apparently a pretty good wrestler in HS and college... I had never heard of him before this, so I did a little quick checking.

He is 52-11... and he has won his last 8 fights in a row. His wins come over a few note-worthy guys like Keith Jardine, Sean Salmon, Matt Horwich, and now Ricco Rodriguez. Some of his 11 losses include guys like Bablu (only UFC fight), Cabbage, Jason Lambert and Vlad Matyushenko. Not too bad really.

The UFC could really use some HWs...

Overall I would give Yamma a solid D-. The only reason its not an F is because I like the idea of introducing a new concept to try and keep the fights a little more fast paced, but I think it was a flop.

Jake Rossen has an amusing play-by-play of Yamma:
