Lightning Lee Murray

I am not sure how many of you are familiar with British MMA fighter "Lightning" Lee Murray but ESPN did a special on him tonight on their E:60 show. For those of you not familiar with the story Murray was an up & coming mma fighter who had beaten Jorge Rivera in his one & only UFC fight in just 1:45. He finished with an overall record of 8-2 with 1 no contest and 1 draw. He lost a unanimous decision to Anderson Silva in his first professional fight and also lost by submission to Joe Doerksen.
Back in 2006 a manager of a British cash vault was on his way home. He was pulled over by two men pretending to be police officers. Around the same time two other men disguised as police officers arrived at the managers house and told his wife and child that he was involved in a car wreck. All three were taken hostage to a farm and a few hours later the manager accompianed by two men disguised as police officers entered the vault. At this time the security guard was subdued and 6 other people with their faces disguised entered the premises. They tied up all the workers and backed in to the loading dock a 17' box truck and within an hour had loaded via hand trucks and hi-lo's 53 million pounds which equates to $92 million dollars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Within a few days the police closed in on a few suspects and had made thier first arrests. In one of the getaway cars police found a make-up kit with the name Lee M. on it. After doing some investigations the police had gotten a conversation that was recorded between Murray and one of the defendants discussing the crime right before it took place. On top of that Murray was arrested on a street corner for loitering a month before the heist. The street corner was in full view of the loading dock at the vault.
Murray who was born to an English mother & Moroccan Father fled to Morocco where they do not have an extradition treaty with the UK. He purchased a beautiful gated home for $1.5 million in cash. Less than three months later he was arrested on cocaine possession and assault charges. He still sits in a Moroccan jail while the UK fights with the Moroccan government over his extradition. There is still over $50 million still missing from the heist and Murray's lawyer is very confident that he will never be extradited. The British government can opt to try him on Moroccan soil but he the maximum sentence he could receive if found guilty would be 10 years.
A side note about Lee Murray. After UFC 38 which was held in London many of the fighters were involved in a brawl outside a bar. Pat Miletich, Matt Hughes, Chuck Liddell, Tony Fryklund, Murray and Tito Ortiz are some of the participants. Legend has it Ortiz and Murray took off their jackets and went at each other, Ortiz threw a left hook that missed and Murray countered with a five piece to Tito's dome that sent Tito crashing to the ground knocked out. Murray stomped on his face a few times and was pulled off by some other fighters. Ortiz claims this never happened.
If you have time look some of the stories up on this it is fascinating. Here are a few links.

It's one of the craziest
It's one of the craziest stories I have ever heard. Not for nothing, let's say he does 10 years in jail, when he gets out you know he has that $50 million stashed away somewhere. I would do 10 years for $50 million, that's for s**t sure.

Nice job. According to Liddell in his book and an interview on Opie and Anthony, Ortiz never got KO'd and actually was chasing Murray through the streets. Book isn't bad, just got Couture's but missed the autograph signing.
