Interesting Bosco. If you or
Interesting Bosco. If you or anyone can find me an online story on this, I'll definitely post this. Does Sherdog have it anywhere on their site?
MMAJunkie.com is reporting
MMAJunkie.com is reporting that Aleks' camp is saying that it was a non-medical issue:

saw that junkie article
saw that junkie article shortly after i listened to yesterday's SDS about the hep-B. i wanted to stress the "unconfirmed" part ... no "reliable sources" ... just talk on sherdog radio
No prob at all. I appreciate
No prob at all. I appreciate the info bosco. It spurred me to look around and try to get some confirmation. Please feel free to bring that sort of stuff up. It's good stuff.
despite what i read on
despite what i read on junkie, breen also says that he has heard from sources that it was hep-B. breen said that he has no reason to believe the contrary from his sources but until something else is confirmed, i'll leave it up to speculation (although breen seems to be one of the most knowledgable people regarding mma and related topics)
i first heard it from yesterday's SDS.
this was discussed within the last 10 minutes or so of the tuesday (7/22) jordan breen show
Yes, Breen is very good.
Yes, Breen is very good. It's interesting though because I find Junkie to be very on point and generally conservative with their reporting so I trust them quite a bit.
Junkie was one of the few sites that didn't throw its own wild speculation into the Dana White big announcement mix.
Hell, even on this site Phoenix speculated on the big announcement and I still think his guess was the best one out of all of them...

I never get tired of this...
i keep editing my posts and
i keep editing my posts and screw with sequence ... heh...
in any case, until i hear more, i'll leave it in the unknown category BUT hep-B is the first (and only) reason on my list of potential reasons aleks did not compete
while i wouldnt have been able to watch him fight (because of comcast) i was excited to see how he did or possibly later on youtube or something
That's true Bosco and
That's true Bosco and Junkie's source is the Aleks fight team so not sure how reliable that is.
If it is hep-b, hope he recovers quickly and can fight again. Just another contender in the Affliction mix.
Wonder if we'll ever see Blood Brothers Russian-style...
MMANews.com is confirming it
MMANews.com is confirming it was Hep B:

it was the only reason
it was the only reason anyone threw around ...
everyone that discussed it sounded like they had faith in their various sources
(my best guess, tattoos ... and hopefully he can take some more tests to verify whether or not he ended up with a false positive)
I don't know how reliable a
I don't know how reliable a source it is, but as I was checking out mmaplayground.com, and there was a link that said that Aleks doesn't have Hep B, but that he was simply late in getting his visa, and he missed his test. Take it for what it's worth...
Days after Aleksander Emelianenko was forced to withdraw from Affliction: Banned due what the CSAC termed as "failing to meet all licensing requirements", heavy rumors persisted that Emelianenko had contracted hepatitis B and could possibly be forced into early retirement.
Aleksander spoke out today about the real reasons behind his dismissal from Affliction's inaugural event and addressed rumored health concerns in an interview with Life.ru
Below is a brief description of the interview:
In the video interview with life.ru Aleks claims that he was simply late. He says there is absolutely nothing wrong with him physically.
He says that according to the CSAC he was supposed to be tested on 13th. He only received a visa on 14th and came to US on 15th. He was hoping that they would be able to still work everything out - but apparently the CSAC is very strict on everything.
i saw the same thing on
i saw the same thing on fightlinker
i want to see aleks fight, so until he passes clear or totally denies having hep, i'm going to be very skeptical about being able to see aleks fighting on american soil
