Contest prizes

Contests and prizes are FightTicker.com's way of saying thank you to the loyal members of this site. As you can see, the value of the prizes is going up and the UFC 86 contest prizes will be quite a bit more than the TUF 7 contest prizes.

But, I asked myself, are these even prizes that the members want?

The t-shirts seemed like they were popular prizes. This time around, I'm testing out the betting accounts as prizes and I'd like feedback on these prizes as well as ideas for future prizes that you might like.

I'm working pretty hard behind the scenes to procure these prizes and I have some really big ideas for prizes down the road. But, your input is very much appreciated so that I can make sure I'm giving you what you actually want!

Thanks,
Pramit

The Prizes are a very nice thing to be able to get just for participating in a quick and easy (and fun) contest because you are a member of this site. Thanks Pramit for doing this. Its very much appreciated.

That being said, shirts were cool. The betting accounts I'm not into but I am just speaking for myself, others might be into it. If you could get the fighters books as prizes and maybe have them signed if possible or signed pictures. The signing part might be difficult I realize but even without it signed I would be more inclined to participate if these were prizes. Some action figures when they finally hit the US would be good too. Front row seats to UFC 87 ?????? HMMMMMMMM!

Great feedback Cincy55. It's trial and error. If participation isn't high for this one, I'll probably not do betting accounts as a prize again (although I have one lined up for UFC 86 that will be in the hundreds of dollars in value.)

About the books, action figures, etc, I'm going to definitely work on that. That's a great idea. And tickets to events are the ultimate prize that I'm aiming for, so as this site grows look for those sorts of prizes to come along.

I was just kidding about the tickets to events...that would be mind blowing news if you pulled that off. Can't wait to hear about the prize of UFC 86 now too.

I'll keep thinking about things to and let you know. Hopefully others will chime in and you can get a feel for what others would want instead of just one Canadian.

I was excited to hear about the betting account because I honestly was considering opening one myself so this would be an easy way to get it done if I'm right. As Cincy said he's not I'm very much so into those prizes. Honestly I just came to this site to talk MMA so any prizes at all make it even better. Thanks for the hard work Pramit. I'm sure I speak for most of us on here when I say if you need any help on our end speak up and we can use our resources.

Captain,

I appreciate it. I'm always on the lookout for new, innovative ideas. If you ever have something that you think might work, I'm all ears.

As for the contest, if you're into free betting money then you'll like this contest but you'll like the UFC 86 contest even more because there's way more money in prizes in that one...It's actually very generous...All the sponsors are very generous in all honesty. I can't thank them enough for giving this stuff away...

I just got my Griffon Fight Gear shirt last night in the mail for correctly predicting the Penn/Sherk fight. Its very cool.

Captain, thanks for joining in. I am not too much into betting so I did not want to be the only voice heard on that aspect so if everyone else likes that prize thats great. I was just giving my opinion. I also just joined here to talk MMA with the MMAfia crew who got banned from CBS site so these prizes are awesome and huge bonus to becoming a member here. I've said it before but once again...Thank you Pramit.

OK, here's the deal with the prizes for this contest (it's different for the next contest).

In order to cash out with Bodog on the freeplay money that they put into your account, you have to bet 10X the amount of your prize in the sportsbook, 5X the amount of the prize in the casino or earn 3 poker points for every bonus dollar issued.

In other words, if you win $20 (second place), you then need to place a total of $200 in bets in the sportsbook before you can cash out. Now, understand, if you bet and keep winning, that means you may never have to put any of your own money in.

So, in other words, this is truly free money. If you bet the $20 and lose. Oh well, at least you got one bet in. No loss...

haha...i just won't know how to play...i haven't gone to bodog yet...i won't end winning anyway...maybe tbc can win and he can get his jollies off...

Not really a win either though is it...lol thats why I dont like the betting prize. If you were able to parlay that 20 bucks into 200 then all the more power to you but I would lose first bet I made. Its just my luck. If I walk into a casino I put 20 maybe 40 bucks in a slot machine and walk away after my 5- minutes of betting and my money is gone. I make my contribution and then go watch the big spenders at the blackjack tables.

Yeah. I think this prize is good for those who like to bet or who are willing to see what happens if/when they make a bet. It's essentially free betting money but it's not free cash (unless you can take that initial winning and bet successfully with it and then cash out.)

it's a great prize. it's awesome that you are doing all this...it is FREE money no doubt. i wasn't trying to come off like i was complaining...because only canadians complain.

i couldn't help it. Eye-wink

We dont complain...we keep the peace.

I was just saying this prize isnt my cup of tea...Long live the Queen...but I would love to hear of the winner of this prize taking that 20 and making 200 or even 2000...that would be great to hear. It just wouldnt be me because I would make 1 bet and lose it.

lol. I hear you guys. I definitely didn't think you were complaining. Your input is extremely valuable because I really do want to give you prizes that you will appreciate.

I'm doing this one and one for UFC 86 that are both betting prize contests. As I've mentioned the prize value for UFC 86 is in the hundreds and the cash out requirements are less strict. If interest is low on both, I'll definitely look for other prizes and maybe only do betting prizes infrequently.

Okay, so next week is $300 in total betting cash (1st to 3rd place prizes) for the UFC 86 prediction contest.

Looks like I've also lined up redbelt dvds for a contest in july.

And, I've started talking to JAKKS about a contest when their action figures come out.

I will also be contacting THQ about their UFC 2009 game when that comes out.

So, while I can't promise all of these prizes, the first two are pretty much 100% and the last two are in early stages of discussion and probably won't happen until the actual products are ready to be sold, which isn't for a while (2009.) Stay tuned, Fight Ticker members! More good stuff on the way! I'm trying!

that's awesome. on behalf of the fight ticker community, we thank you for all the hard work.

heh, i was happy enough with a forum where we could shoot the shit and not worry about getting overly censored or having tons of trolls that post thoughts in internet shorthand ... awesome job and seriously thanks for putting in the effort

You guys are very welcome. It's truly my pleasure.

As I've said before, you have a lot of input into these sorts of things so I'm trying to get prizes that everyone is into. Even if one contest prize may not be your bag, hopefully the next one or the one after that will be.

Thanks again for being such great members.

bosco is trying but he aint cutting it. jk
