Houston Alexander

I just got off the phone with Houston Alexander's manager and he set up an interview for me tomorrow with Houston. Anyone have any questions they would like me to ask? His next fight will take place in September in his home state of Nebraska against Eric Schafer. Fire away.

How is his grappling skills?

How is his grappling skills? I know he is a solid wrestler, but I don't think I have heard anything about submissions on him.

How many pro and amature

How many pro and amature fights does he really have? I have heard some outlandish claims about the number of fights he has actually been in...

Nice job King. My one

Nice job King. My one serious question: What are the 3 hardest things about balancing your family and sporting life?

My semi-serious/fun questions:
Do you consider golf a sport and if so, do you consider Tiger Woods a tough athlete? (Yeah, eat if Phoenix!)
You must have taken your kids to see Kung Fu Panda. Who would win a fight in the octagon between Kung Fu Panda and The Incredible Hulk?

If he has any plans on

If he has any plans on joining a "major" gym/camp...ie AKA, Xtreme Couture, Militech, Greg Jackson, etc.

Ask him why anytime he's

Ask him why anytime he's making an appearance in the Omaha Nebraska area they introduce him or advertise him on the radio as "UFC CHAMPION Houston Alexander." Last time I checked he was a long way from being a "Champion" of anything except maybe being the most overrated dude to step in the ring with James Irvin. I'm hoping to make it to the Omaha show, so also ask him if he can kindly try his best to make the fight last more than 8 seconds.

"Nebraska Is In The House!" Yay.

The guy is nice enough to

The guy is nice enough to take time out of his day to give me an interview, even though he is training, raising 6 kids among other things, cut him a break. Maybe you could meet up with him and see what kind of champion he is.

Wow, King. Pretty cool that

Wow, King.

Pretty cool that he is going to sit down and do an interview with you. All accounts point to him being a really good family man, and a great person outside of the cage. He e-mails back and forth with his fans constantly. A really good dude.

My question, if he'd be inclined to answer it, is what happened in the Chuck Parmlee fight? My sound board is broken on my computer, so I can't hear what is being said in the video, but he just seems to refuse to get back on the ground to restart the fight, after being taken down legally by Parmlee. The ref gives him multiple chances to restart the fight, but eventually calls Parmlee the winner. Here is the link.

As I said, you may be able to hear Houston explain why he feels he doesn't need to restart on the bottom, but I can't hear it. Thanks, King.

Cindy, he actually asked if

Cindy, he actually asked if I would like to meet and do it face to face but he's in Nebraska and I am in NY. I will be posting the interview on Monday. Let me just say that this guy was the most humble, soft spoken, intelligent, articulate athlete I have ever spoken with. He has such an awareness of what's going on in this world and a desire to help people less fortunate. He gave me an hour of his time even though he had just gotten back from Chicago earlier that day and could have used that time to hang with his family. Absolutely coolest guy I have ever spoken with.

I know you'll have it up

I know you'll have it up later, but I was just curious. He seems like a nice guy who would give a pretty good interview.

He was awesome. He is

He was awesome. He is definitely a great ambassador for the sport. He is so into the history of not only MMA and hip hop but of our country. He is a very cultural person and if you were to introduce him to someone who wasn't familiar with MMA they would have no clue he was a fighter, he is very articulate. He is also very forthright and didn't make any excuses.

The one thing he said to me that really stuck out was that he would never underestimate any other fighter. He said that you have to be an awesome athlete just to get to this level.
