Farve, Sapp, Strahan, Ogden, plus the rumor is Larry Allen is going to announce... all guys who were top 5 in thier respective positions all-time. I would say it is a hell of a 1st ballot HOF class...

Replacing Ogden isn't an easy task. I wonder who will get the job.
jared gaither is the replacement. he has ALOT of potential and would have been a 1st round draft pick if he wasn't an idiot and could pass some college classes. i'm guessing they're going to stick with him for a year or two and if he fails or just is mediocre they'll draft a tackle in the next 2-3 years depending on how high their draft pick is.
word on the street is last year he was dominating suggs in practice (yes i know, just practice). he did an average job during gametime but he was just a rookie anyways.
Gaither is a Terps product and with his skills, he was a steal for the Ravens. You can't easily replace a HOFer but if Gaither's mental game is ok, he's got a shot... He practices against the best d in the NFL so he's got no excuses...
But, Ogden will be missed. He was a stalwart on the line for a decade. The only retirement that will affect the team more will be when Ray Lewis decides to call it quits. I hope the team does something SIGNIFICANT to recognize the contributions of both players.
Respect.
I think Jason Brown is on the left side at guard. That should help whoever fills the Ogden void. Jason is a house and has turned into a pretty good lineman. I met him a few years back when he was a senior at NC and only weighed 290 lbs. Great guy with a great family.
Man, all this talk is getting me excited about football. I just got caught up with the Baltimore Sun's Ravens blogs. Good stuff... I was way behind on Ravens news...
JO made it official this afternoon...
Classy guy...
Mikeman is really looking tough this year! it looks like he will be playing a lot of ironman football!

I'm the Capo mess with me and I'll tell you where to go!
they moved jason brown to center. ben grubbs, the 1st round draft pick 2 years ago is taking over at left.
in a couple years (as long as gaither pans out and jason brown resigns) the raven's o-line should be awesome.
Ogden was not only a great player he was a class act as well. They had some great players on that team. Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Ogden, Samari Rolle, etc.. I'm interested to see how Harbaugh does as a coach.
That is a great HOF in 5 years but consider this one in baseball if these three guys retire.
John Smoltz, Tom Glavine & Greg Maddux. Two 300 game winners and one guy with over 200 wins and 150 saves, unbelievable, how did they not win more WS? Oh yeah they played the Yankees twice!!!

Lev, That trio of pitchers was one hell of a rotation for the Braves. Amazing they only won one world series.
Pops, Mike Preston seems to like Joe Flacco based on what he's seen. We all know Preston hated Boller so that's a positive sign for the future...Plus McGahee at RB. Offense should be good in a couple of years...(cross fingers...)
Do you live in a cave with Osama or something? They are three of the best pitchers of our generation.

you know what's crazy is that ogden might not even make the HOFer the first year he is eligible. i agree with king that he was a class act. that guy barely talked but when he talked people listened (probably because he was gigantic). he'll be missed.
1- favre
2- strahan
3- sapp
4- larry allen
5- junior seau (assuming he calls it quits)
i think in the grand scheme of things, larry allen was considered more dominant than ogden was.
I'd take Ogden over Larry Allen any day of the week. I have heard really good things about Flacco and MacGahee is a stud another U of Miami product playing for the Ravens.

watch out for ray rice...i wouldn't be surprised if he turns out like a poor man's brian westbrook in a couple years. durable, tough, and willing to learn. that's what you want out of a young back.
Yeah, Rice was a huge pick up. Loved it when I heard it. Ravens know how to draft quality undervalued personnel (other than QB and WR)...
He's a damn good back, I saw a lot of him as he played at Rutgers. Very quick, strong, has a low center of gravity and has good hands, very good comparison to Westbrook.

it'll be a good step for him to be a backup for a couple years too...it's not good when you're taking 35-40 carries a game for your entire college career.
Plus he's not all that big to be taking a beating all game. He's a good change of scenery back, who can carry 20 times a game or so.
