Did anyone else watch the
Did anyone else watch the UFC 85 Bedlam Preview show last night? Apparently Hughes put his foot in his mouth again with his so called humour. The story is Alves lost his first fight in the UFC by triangle choke. A few months later Hughes is holding an open training session and Alves shows up to it late. Hughes says "too bad your late we already covered how to get out of a triangle choke". Hughes doesn't recall saying this but he said its something he would say. Alves on the other hand recalls it perfectly and is using it as fuel for this upcoming fight. Just found this story humorous because its classic Hughes saying that his humour is misunderstood. Horn was being interviewed also and said thats how Hughes is and when he says things like that he sees himself as funny but others don't see it that way. I've always thought of Hughes as an arrogant SOB but maybe he just has bad social skills...lol Alves now has something to bring to the fight that was said a couple years ago. Go figure.

That's very interesting. I actually find that comment pretty witty although at times I find Hughes to be a bit off-putting. I don't think he's malicious though.
How was the preview show? I liked the GSP-Serra show a lot but I find myself not watching most of them...

I guess to Alves it wouldnt be too funny though...lol I guess its how many times Hughes says things like that that he pushes the envelope from being funny to being an a-hole. As for the show, I only watched the first fifteen minutes. It showed Hughes' house which is very modest and the town he lives in which is very small. Then showed Alves living in Miami going out partying and having fun...2 completely different lives. It was right after the hockey game so it was getting pretty late.

And about the whole baseball thing... our players are just re-learning how to play without the juice now that they have actually started some REAL testing. Give us a couple years, we will be back... we just need to get over our roid/HGH hangover.

Hughes is a cocky SOB but he has spent a lifetime of kicking ass and taking names so he can say what he wants. If I was Alves I'd be careful you don't want to go into a fight with a guy like Hughes using that as motivation he is smart enough to turn it around on you.

Canada as a country didn't
Canada as a country didn't have a team in the NHL, never have so they didn't compete for the stanley cup. As for the Canadians on the Detroit team, I think there were 9, Europeans 11 and Americans 3...how Detroit won with that many Americans I will never know. Now if you want to talk about World Junior Championships or World Hockey Championships then Canada is the winner or runner up for the last decade or so. Even our womens hockey team whoops ass every year.
King, Hughes is an all time great and future hall of famer and not taking away anything from what he has done in the octagon. Just because he is a great fighter doesnt mean I have to like him as a person. And I dont like him as a person.
I play Short Stop...the most important position in baseball. The real athletes play SS. I know your position is on all 4rs with your casual fan friend behind you.
