Hey everybody! Well, the season's quarterfinalists are emerging and the season is starting to unfold. Team Rampage is not doing so well at this point and I have to say it was so damn frustrating! Watching all of these fights and coming out on the losing end over and over was really getting old! I was still frustrated with my loss obviously, and with most of my teammates in the same boat motivation was running low. Being in the house and knowing that I was out of the competition seeing fights and fighters that I would have given anything to fight was frustrating.

Gerald and Amir's fight was, in my mind, a crazy upset. At this point I had never seen Amir fight and didn’t know all that much about him, but I did know about Gerald. I had trained with him everyday, knew he was a D-1 wrestler and an IFL veteran with a solid record and fight game. Gerald is strong and has unbelievable takedowns! Every time we would spar it always seemed that at some point I would find myself over his head onto my head!

Leading up to this fight I and everybody else had seen this fight as going Gerald's way. I didn’t really know if Gerald was going to finish Amir but I knew he would defiantly dominate him with takedowns and on the ground so I knew at the very least he would win a decision…. Well, I was wrong!

Amir executed as perfect a game plan as you will ever see. He knew Gerald's strengths and tailored a fight strategy to counter them and win the fight. If you remember, at the end of the first round Amir and Gerald stood up and Amir fired off a knee that just barely missed Gerald which shows that he was looking for that big knee and it wasn’t just a lucky spur of the moment thing. So props to Amir -- he is a unique character, a very nice guy, and one hell of a fighter.

My last note on this fight was I think the stoppage was still a bit premature. I can’t count how many times I have seen fighters take way more shots than that in a worse position and still continue. I know that Gerald went down from a hard knee but he was recovering, I think, when it was stopped. I honestly think the ref should have held out a little longer before stepping in… That’s just my opinion.

So with control back over to Forrest the next fight was sort of a no-brainer for us in the house. We knew that it was the best match up for the remaining fighters -- Pat vs. Cale. These were two fighters who were open about the fact they didn’t want to be on the ground and they liked to bang.

I had a chance to roll with Cale before my first fight to get on the show and I knew his ground game definitely wasn’t his strength. I watched his fight to get on the show -- he fought a huge guy who was supposed to be really good. Cale handled himself well and demonstrated he was a tough kid.

I had been training with Pat everyday and knew he wanted to keep this on his feet! Pat's ground game was very limited, more so than Cale's. Pat did however have good stand up and was also a tough and determined guy.

So this was set to be a pretty straight-up match up between the two. In the end, it was Cale's little bit of wrestling that decided the fight as he got Pat down and finished round two on the ground raining down punches.

After the fight Pat's hand swelled up to the size of a large grapefruit; come to find out he had severely fractured it in a few places. He said he did it sometime in the first round so he was fighting the entire second with a busted-up hand.

Now there is only one fight left and the battle between CB and Nick is set for the next episode. I met Nick several months before at the TUF finale for season 6 and knew he had a good ground game and well-rounded MMA game overall. Nick is quiet and focused as a fighter and was definitely going to be a tough fight for anybody.

CB on the other hand was a D-1 All-American from Arizona State, and an all-around bad ass who used to pretty much school me daily in wrestling. I have a pretty good ground game, and I was competitive with everybody I had been working with. CB is just a beast and was unbelievably strong and dominant on the ground with his control and ability to always come out on top in a scramble. He has lightning fast and technical takedowns, and his stand up isn’t anything to scoff at either.

I knew this was going to be a great fight and couldn’t wait to see it. With almost half of the fighters now eliminated from the competition the general attitude was starting to shift more from competition to surviving the rest of the time on the show without going insane! We also discovered the liquor cabinet and the good times started to roll that inherently bring drama, shenanigans, beer pong, and the closet tough guys out! So get ready for the season to start to get very interesting shortly!!

Nick has a tough fight next

Nick has a tough fight next week but I think he'll do alright, despite being a low pick going against a top pick. We've seen that it doesn't really matter too much as two guys with almost 10 fights each lost to guys with (0-0) records. Nick seems like he's bigger than most guys in the house from what I've seen and wrestlers are aways suseptible to getting choked out. War Klein.

i thought the ref could have

i thought the ref could have let the amir/gerald fight go on a little longer. gerald shouldn't have just been laying there. he was screaming he wasn't out but he didn't improve his position...i was kind of surprised to see cale take pat down because he said he only like to stand and trade but i guess he didn't want to keep eating those shots pat was giving him. i thought pat was gonna run away with this one but he really only had that big haymaker which broke his hand. good fights though. those were probably the better fights of the season so far.

Man, Pat did not have any

Man, Pat did not have any ground skills. He was a tackling dummy for Cale. I would have thought that a guy that liked to throw hands as much as Pat would have worked on his takedown defense a little. I liked the knee to Gerald's face. Just goes to show you in MMA a fight can be won or lost very quickly.

Yeah Team Forrest definitely

Yeah Team Forrest definitely seem to be masters of their game plan. Kind of makes you wonder what will happen when Forrest actually fights Rampage. Everyone is counting him out, but then again they made that mistake with Shogun. Maybe it was his strategy that made the difference in that fight. Either way I'm sure it's going to be one hell of a fight, I can't wait for UFC 86. Great post Mohawk...
